When Piedmont looked into changing its practice management system, we did the normal RFP to several vendors and narrowed the field to four. The GE product was hands-down the better Practice Management system that could also have a seamless Electronic Health Record component (one of our requirements). The System, however, was lacking in its ability to handle the FQHC reporting and billing uniqueness. Only when the CySolutions product was overlaid did it become THE SOLUTION for me.
I was one of a team of three that implemented our previous Practice Management system. It was new to all of us and there was no real standard to help. There was a lot of interpretation (or as we learned misinterpretation) that we had to wade through and we did not have the benefit of inside system knowledge. The same team headed the GE/CySolutions implementation. Given our history, we were expecting a set-up manual some set-up worksheets and “see you in 2 weeks”. What we got blew us away! We had live technical people who thoroughly knew both the GE product and the CySolutions product. They drove and took their directions from us. If they saw us headed in a circle or down a bad road, they interjected and told us what they see working better for other FQHCs. By the time our week was up, all of our files were started and 75% were completed. They left some so we could practice. It was THE SOLUTION.
We discussed with CySolutions the pros and cons of converting various data segments and at what time frames we should do the conversion. The conversion saved us from reentering basic demographic information but each file had to be completed when appoints were made. We did a lot of preloading information before the visit after the conversion, but the conversion was a hand-in-hand process and they did not let us down. Every issue there was a solution. That solution was not also as we wished but they always delivered on what they promised. They have a SOLUTION.

We converted demographic data from our EMR to Centricity PM, and later converted UDS and sliding fee scale data from another vendor to CySolutions. Both conversions went very well. GE handled the demographic conversion at the time of our Centricity PM installation and CySolutions did the UDS conversion a year later. Both GE and CySolutions did a great job on the conversions. The support from CySolutions has been so good that I tend to call them first when we have a problem, even if it is really an issue another company should handle! They have always been willing and able to resolve the problems.
